P1080215Greetings once again from the HABS team here in the “Jam”. Well I can say that this is absolutely the longest interval between updates that we have ever had. Not the kind of record we are proud of but a record none the less . Needless to say, we have been pretty occupied with all that we are doing.
All is quite fine here on the HABS compound and although we are smack dab in the middle of our summer season we are still keeping pretty busy with our usual activities.
I’m going to update you on the clinic side of the equation and then Pat or one of the other teachers will fill you in on the JTTI side.

The clinic has been super busy and we are seeing some excellent results with many difficult and challenging presenting complaints. I always say we can fix what we find and what happens after that is very much up to the body’s self regulating and innate healing capacity. Of course the body is an amazingly intelligent system and given the opportunity it really can perform what we perceive as miracles.

I had the great pleasure of working with Tennille Carter in October. I might have mentioned that Tennille is a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medical Practitioner) and she is from Galiano Island in the gulf island group found between Vancouver and Vancouver Island pretty close to where Pat and I used to live.

We had a lot of fun treating patients together and it was a nice change for me to have someone to hang out with. Tennille is a very dedicated and talented practitioner and she was able to help many people with long standing problems. She is now working in the main hospital in Stonetown for the next few months after which she will return to Canada to continue her practice there.

In December, we welcomed Dr Jurg Gschwend and his partner Dr Nicole Jenni from Switzerland. Jurg is an Osteopath and Nicole is trained in Craniosacral Therapy, NLP and has an extensive background in rehabilitation. Needless to say, they have been seeing lots of patients and providing some very extensive treatments to people who for the most part will have never had this type of care before in their lives.
In fact, Jurg and Nicole will be leaving us today to return to Switzerland so with big thanks and gratitude for their love and attention we wish them a safe journey home and we hope that we get to see them here again one day. Great job guys!!

This Saturday we will be welcoming Dr Andrew Coyne who is a Chiropractor from Colorado. Andrew will be with us for the month of February so we are looking forward to meeting him and giving him an opportunity to share his skills with the folks that frequent our clinic.
Shortly we will be welcoming an Australian Chiropractor, Dr Elise Willoughby to the team. Elise will be onsite for a month so as always we are looking forward to meeting a new volunteer.

We really are very fortunate to attract such highly qualified practitioners to our project here and we would encourage any of you out there reading these updates who are health care practitioners to consider spending some time with us. We believe it will be a life changing experience for you.

wellness center jambianiSo on that note I’ll finish off here by saying we very much appreciate your ongoing support and encouragement as we too continue our work to provide the very best health care and educational services that we are capable of. It’s all good and we are still really enjoying our journey here on the “Spice Island” of Zanzibar.
Take good care of yourselves and until the next time, nothing but warm wishes to all of you reading this update from the HABS team in the “Jam”.
