Jambiani Wellness Center
The Hands Across Borders Society officially opened its Wellness Center in 2002. A variety of healthcare services are offered to residents of Zanzibar, the ex pat community, tourists and even individuals from the Tanzanian mainland and abroad. The clinic is under the direction of Dr Alastair Pirie and welcomes volunteer practitioners from all over the world who come from a variety of backgrounds including TCM, Osteopathy, Massage therapy, yoga and Manual therapy to name a few.
Jambiani Tourism Traning Institute
The Jambiani Tourism Training Institute (JTTI) provides a practical and theoretical education for local community stakeholders. The JTTI now offers a 2-year Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality – a vocational training curriculum which offers participants the opportunity to develop their skills and thereby improve their socio-economic conditions. In addition to the Diploma, the JTTI offers short courses in English, IT, Languages and other tourism/hospitality short courses.
The restaurant Alibi's Well
The restaurant 'Alibi's Well' was openend in 2007 together with the opening of the JTTI. It is a training restaurant and kitchen in which the students learn the practical skills necessary for the local tourism and hospitality industry. Alibi's Well is open every day for lunch and offers themed dinners on Friday.
How you can help us
The running of both the clinic and the institute relies on donations as well as volunteers offering their time and services. If you would like to support our project, through donation or volunteering, please feel free to contact Hands Across Borders Society.
