Greetings once gain everyone from a very warm and summery Zanzibar and as all-ways, we hope that this latest newsletter finds you well and enjoying life to the maximum.

Activity levels remain on high here at the HABS Jambiani headquarters and concepts of holidays and time off are nowhere to be seen, at least as far as the immediate future is concerned. We are coming into one of the “busy” seasons now, when lots of people in Europe and other countries escape their winter and head south and that means Alibi’s Well will be turning it up a notch as we gear up for the influx of vacationers..

On the clinic front, we recently said farewell to Christa Kelly, a massage therapist from Canada who spent six weeks with us providing treatments to people from all over Zanzibar. Thank you Christa for your time and effort!

Christa’s place was recently taken over by Dr Lauren Steinfort a lovely young Chiropractor from Australia whose infusion of commitment, proactivity and positive energy has us all smiling. We are looking forward to spending the next three weeks with Lauren before she is due to leave on the 20th of this month. I’m hoping to get Lauren to add some of her thoughts to this update before I send it out.

    Dr Lauren Steinfort
I have had the most wonderful five weeks here at Alastair and Pat’s JTTI school and Wellness Centre. Alastair and Pat have been very welcoming, as has Phil, the main teaching volunteer. I have thoroughly enjoyed their company, hospitality, stories and sense of humor. Our communal dinners have been a highlight, and I can confidently say that the best food and drink comes out of our kitchen 🙂

The culture here in Zanzibar is very different to home (Melbourne) and learning about the Muslim culture and belief system has been interesting and quite thought provoking.

Thank you Lauren and we too enjoyed your stay and wish you well with your future travels and plans for Holland.

Soon we will be welcoming Dr Stuart Bennett who comes to us from the UK. Stuart has been travelling for the past few months and will make his appearance in the Clinic on January the 3rd. We are really looking forward to meeting him and introducing him to the “Jam”.

We have included some pictures of the new construction which has begun. That said, the work is presently on hold as audits and administrative details are taken care of in order to proceed to the next stage. This is Africa and if nothing else, we have learned many lessons in the application of patience. We hope the building will commence again soon.

Anyhow, I think that’s about all from us for now. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very wonderful holiday season and we trust that 2013 will be a great year for you and your families.

All good and lots of love from the “HABS” team on Zanzibar.
